Jackie's Story
Hi, my name is Jackie. I have been at Bethany House for three months. Before I came here I was running around from place to place living out of bags. I had been living in four different living arrangements in the past nine months. It was a very unhealthy and a very unsafe situation for me, especially being pregnant. I finally looked in the phone book and called Bethany House when I had nowhere else to go, set up an interview, and met the residents who lived there at the time.
I took the rules home, saying to myself, "I don't think I'll be able to do this... but it's only for three months." So, I have moved in and have loved it ever since.
Now, I am counting down the days until my baby boy will come. When in the back of my mind, I am worrying about where I am going to go after my baby is born, wishing I didn't have to leave Bethany House.
I came to the house mom and Director and talked to them about my concerns. They talked and prayed with me and gave me hugs. Now I know that in Bethany House there is God, love, wisdom and friendship. I don't know where I would be if I didn't come here, but I am sure glad I did.
I want to take a moment to say thank you to Becky for being a great house mom and an even better friend, I love you and God bless you. I also want to say thank you to Beth for working so hard to find me the right place to go, even with the short notices. Last but definitely not least, a huge thank you to another resident. Kim, for being my friend and looking out for me until the very end and I hope our friendship can grow.
