Kristy's story is one of ultimate redemption, new life embrace, and ongoing success. We are so thankful for her desire to change, grow and put all she learned at Bethany House to good use for her and her family.

"In 2005, I got addicted to Methamphetamines. I basically quit talking to people I knew growing up and only socialized with fellow drug users. In January 2007, I found myself pregnant and didn't know what to do because I had nowhere to go, the father was nowhere to be found and couldn't imagine raising a kid on the streets or by myself. I had gone to a place called Begin Right to get maternity clothes and they had told me about the Bethany House and gave me the phone number.

I called the very next day and got an appointment for a couple days out. I was nervous because I didn't know if they were going to judge me for being an addict. The day I went in for my appointment I remember sitting in the chair against the wall and feeling very welcome and wasn't nervous at all. They had told me that they would make a decision and call me within a couple of days. When I got the phone call I was very happy because I knew that I needed them and without them I would be left in a tough situation.

While at Bethany House I learned many things about myself like what kind of mother I wanted to be for my child and how I never wanted to put Jayda in any situations that I had already endured. Those made me realize that I needed to go to school and better myself. In March of 2008, I achieved my GED and that was the start to bettering our lives.
In October 2009, I got approved for housing and have had stable housing ever since.

It took a while but in June 2015 I achieved an AAS in Administrative Office Professional – Web Design Option. I now have 2 jobs and I am very proud of my accomplishments.

Without Bethany House who knows where I might be today or even if I would have custody of my child. I definitely wouldn't have gotten my GED or graduated college. Thank you Bethany House for all that you have done for Jayda and I, and what you still do to help."
