Spring 2014
Can you believe Spring is here, bringing with it the celebration of mothers?

...Something we at Bethany House do twelve months a year! You, too, value the important role a mother plays in the life of her children, and I'd like to personally thank you for helping us honor and help mom's year around! We couldn't do the amazing lifesaving, life-changing work we're known for without your ongoing support. Your prayers, donations, and support make what we do possible. You have allowed Bethany House to help single pregnant moms, and mothers who are single parenting, for almost a quarter of a century. Twenty-five years of service is not that far off. So much in our world has changed over the past two-plus decades, but hurting and homeless have continued to increase, making it more important than ever those women receive the help they need to break the poverty-cycle that is so prevalent.

This year we have helped over 20 moms and their children with things as simple diapers and food, as well as, with help paying rent, finding affordable housing or sponsor homes, and assisting with education and employment goals. I'd like to share what Michelle had to say about her journey with our program:

"After Bethany's house, I moved into my own apartment with my little girl (July 2012). I started attending PCC in the fall (September 2012). I am currently in the Bioscience Technology program at PCC. I am looking forward to finishing the Bioscience program (the end of 2014) with an AAS degree and starting a new career as a laboratory technician. After my AAS degree, I am planning to continue with school (part-time) to obtain a degree in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology. My daughter just turned 2 years old (March 29, 2014). I am so blessed to have such a wonderful little girl in my life to keep me grounded and helped direct me to the right path. She is truly a gift from God.

"I would like to thank the Bennett family and Beth from Bethany's house for all their help and support. And I would also like to thank God for all the miracles in my life."

Michelle is pursuing her dreams. Together we were able to help her make her dreams a reality. Not only will her education benefit her for years to come, her daughter will be dramatically influenced by her mom's success. Success that may not have been possible without the skills and support she learned during her time with her sponsor family and working with the Bethany House Program.

With 2014 in full swing, and Mother's Day upon us, won't you consider how you can help other young women like Michelle? There are so many ways to get involved.

  • Please continue your faithful giving.
  • Consider increasing your monthly gift, or making a onetime gift to help a woman's education. (We want to develop an increased education support fund).
  • Pray, pray, and pray some more for God's grace and provision far into the future. He's been faithful this long, we know there are many women and children who need our help. We're trusting Bethany House will continue to provide life-changing services for many years to come.
  • Open your home (and heart) and become a Sponsor Family. (Call Beth Rhinehart to learn more about this exciting opportunity.)
  • Donate a specific item, like diapers. Make sure to contact Beth for what is needed. Many diverse requests are made by moms every day.

And to all the mothers out there reading this letter, we want to wish you a fantastic Mother's Day. We know mothering is one of the most difficult yet rewarding "jobs" there is. We applaud your hard work and dedication to your families. To everyone else … we think you're pretty awesome, too!

Again, we thank you for helping us prepare young women for the most important job they will ever have: Motherhood.

God bless you!
