The Summer 2018 Reunion

This August, for the first time in a number of years, the Bethany House Program hosted a picnic reunion for the women, children , and their families. Former staff and volunteers were also in attendance. Our first ever client joined us with her now, adult son, his wife, and their toddler...this is what we mean by touching two lives generations and beyond!

So many of our women continue to lean on Bethany House for support, counseling, guidance, and to meet emergency needs. Beth frequently schedules time for lunches or coffee just to provide what many programs would call “aftercare services.” We call it family. Anyone who has received help from our program remains part of a unique, highly diverse, completely loved and always welcomed family member. Bethany House is a rock and a resource these families can count on to be there for them through thick and thin, through the challenging times and the  times worth celebrating.

Right now, one of our ladies works for the State of Oregon, another is finishing up her nursing education, another has found the strength to leave a domestic violence situation, another has found love and marriage. Life happens, and with our help, our clients learn to navigate life with improved skills and confidence, growing and developing in their parenting, personal living skills, relationships, educations, and careers.

At the reunion, women and their children sat down for impromptu, taped interviews. Nothing fancy, but simply casual conversations about how the Bethany House Program has impacted their lives and continues to do so.

We hope you will take some time to visit our Facebook Page and watch some of these interviews. Then, if you have time, visit our website and read the past stories/testimonies of some of these same women. Their stories and our older newsletters will demonstrate just how much our clients grow and change, and how their children have improved life opportunities thanks to their moms’ commitment and the help, hope, and healing they received and embraced from our program.
